Getting there from the UK

Day trip by train from Bangkok.

Top tips

  • Trains from Krung Thep Aphiwat take a little over 1 hour on faster services; ordinary trains about 2 hours.
  • Hire a bike or tuk-tuk to get between the ruins.
  • Start early: it gets very hot by midday.
  • Why it's underrated: World-class history barely an hour from Bangkok.

Before you go

  • Check the latest entry requirements and travel advice on GOV.UK.
  • Buy travel insurance (and carry your GHIC in Europe).
  • Check baggage allowances — budget airline fees add up.
